Japan is the country with some of the oldest and most venerated ceramics traditions, where the works of consecrated masters are cherished as national treasures. The new wave of Japanese ceramics springs from the very hands and hearts of a few women, contemporary ceramics artists appreciated particularly in the Western hemisphere. Galateea Contemporary has paired with Tosei Kyoto Gallery in bringing to Bucharest, Romania some representative figures of this artistic phenomenon. The exhibition Diversity of Sensitivity and Expression includes works, which compose a poetic and metaphoric discourse through the most refined matter. By mastering ceramics technology through a wide-ranging palette of techniques and material combinations, the artists succeed in transcending the limitations of matter, generating vibrations of beauty. We are witnessing the latest and most sophisticated phase of Japanese ceramics aesthetics.
