The BlackBOX project arose from the desire to diversify the local art scene, respectively from acknowledging the need of a facility dedicated excusively to experimental art. BlackBOX is the first „artist-run-space” in Galați, generated and coordinated by Monica Turcu (artist) and Vincentziu Pușcașu (curator). Promoting contemporary art and artistic experiments, facilitating a context for the curatorial practice, but also configurating a so called „laboratory” for debate and exchange of ideas constitute the scope of the BlackBOX initiative. Our events focus on the public- artwork interactions, proposing an alternative for capitalizing ephemeral creative formats, installations, new media and conceptual artistic approaches. BlackBOX is the expression of multimedia and artistic interdisciplinarity in the city of Galați.
