Kosmos DIY
Strada Iulian Grozescu 16

Kosmos DIY is an art collective and an alternative cultural space situated in a former factory in the Fabric neighborhood which focuses on promoting emerging and underground cultural acts. In other words, a space in which a handful of people with different artistic practices coexist and express themselves using diversity as advantage in cultural production. A group that uses their own methods, sometimes quite unconventional, to realise their projects and to help other emerging artists to have a place where they can express their art.

In Never Lost To Begin With, the artist revisits the landscapes of his childhood in post-Soviet Moldova, specifically in the town of Nisporeni, where remnants of industrial decay and peculiar, discarded objects became a playground of wonder and curiosity. These found objects, strewn across the industrial ruins, were never seen as broken or discarded by the artist as a child, but as treasures with endless possibilities. This fascination with the overlooked and forgotten has carried into the artist's assemblage work, where each piece is a reconstruction of memory, nostalgia, and imagination. Through the careful selection and rearrangement of found materials, the artist transforms discarded objects into meaningful forms, suggesting that these items were never truly lost, but waiting to be rediscovered. The exhibition, housed in a former factory in Timișoara, Romania, mirrors the very essence of the work: a space once teeming with industry now transformed into a site of creativity and reflection. The interplay between the industrial past and the present artistic intervention invites viewers to reflect on the histories embedded in the objects and spaces we often overlook. As viewers navigate these assemblages, they are invited to contemplate the idea that what we discard may carry stories, histories, and potential that transcend their apparent lifelessness. For the artist, these found objects are more than materials - they are echoes of a past not lost, but always present.
