The studio opens to the public as a space of creation and experimentation, where the artistic process is directly accessible to visitors. Within NAG, the studio becomes a living place, where finished works intertwine with sketches and research materials. Both the resident artist’s works and pieces by guest artists will be showcased. The studio atmosphere is enhanced by an ongoing tattoo performance on artificial skin, inspired by the prison aesthetics of the ‘90s, which introduces a corporal and ritual dimension into the visual dialogue. The space thus functions as a hybrid between studio and exhibition, between documentation and artistic act in process.

Open Studio – Mihai Negru & Tara von Neudorf The open studio offers a preview of the upcoming exhibitions by the two artists: “Despisers of the Body” by Mihai Negru and “Altara” by Tara von Neudorf. The connecting points in the artistic dialogue created in the space are the idolization and reverence for the woman as a center, a source of life and rebirth. The studio invites visitors into the intimacy of the creative process and proposes a visual intensity that intertwines visceral emotion and a sensitive, vulnerable side with an intense, brutal, and aggressive dimension – both visually and discursively. In addition to the exhibited works and those in progress, the studio will feature an experimental performance: the reproduction of analog tattoos, with a trash/prison aesthetic from the 1980s–’90s, on pigskin, based on photographs from the collection of Bucharest-based photographer Mihai Barabancea.
