E T A J artist run-space
George Enescu 43

E T A J is an artist-run space, a catalyst that focuses on the efficiency of the contemporary artistic object within the local context. Some artists have grouped themselves into the idea of conceiving a cultural cell. Through their journey, but also in their connection there is no conventional model. Whether it is a group exhibition, a solo one or other events originated here, the principles of the artistic practice and a sense of authenticity are those guiding the initial collective actions at E T A J.

ETAJ Artist Run Space opens ETAJ Photography with the collaborative project "Overlaps". ETAJ Photography is an experimental alternative photography platform developed under the aegis of ETAJ Artist Run Space, from Strada George Enescu no. 43, which opens with the "Overlaps" exhibition on September 27, 2022, at 7 p.m. "Overlaps" is a collaborative project initiated, coordinated and curated by the visual artist Răzvan Neagoe. The event that marks the opening of the ETAJ Photography platform is the first of a chain of exhibitions that will run successively in four spaces in Bucharest, as follows: Galeria ETAJ Artist Run Space, Atelier 030202, 2/3 gallery and Carol 53. "Overlays" starts from the premise of an experiment that has the double exposure technique at its core: a photographer is invited to "consume" a pre-set film, to send it on to another photographer, who will compositionally build over the exposed film with the latent images of the first. This experiment took place over a period of 3 months, the photographic film corresponding between various spaces and locations such as Spain, Great Britain or the various regions of Romania. The artistic act proposed in the "Overlays" project represents a meditation on identifying a community in which film photography is still central as an approach, or on how such different artists can collaborate to highlight the specific possibilities of the so-called light drawing . "Starting from the idea that photography is the meeting place of some concepts with reality, I thought of a series of dialogues between artists, guided by the photographic technique itself. This type of experiment offers a different perspective on one's own themes and searches by overlapping and juxtaposing with those of the other artists involved in the project, thus formulating new visions on old themes or already explored by each of them up to this moment. This can be the point where other concepts and other representations are born." Răzvan Neagoe "Superimpositions" is a collaborative exhibition between the artists Laurentiu-Alexandru Maxim, Andreea Elena Teleagă, Andrei Fărcășanu, Claudia Retegan, Horațiu Lipot, Irina Dora Dumitrașcu, Justinian Scarlătescu, Mihai Zgondoiu, Mircea Sorin Albuțiu, Mircea Modreanu, Olimpiu Bandalac, Răzvan Neagoe Sabina Suru, Sandu-Milea Lucian and Stefan Dinu. The "Overlaps" project will take place in the following exhibition spaces: · E T A J artist-run space / Str. George Enescu no. 43, Bucharest / period 27.09.2022 - 01.10.2022 · Workshop 030202 / Str. About the co-authors All those involved in the project are part of different artistic backgrounds or practices, performing successfully in their professional activity. The participants took into account two types of realities that coexist without canceling each other out, personal and professional experience, which they recomposed in this experiment. The "meetings" between them took place, in the vast majority of the time, online. The current social context has not affected the artistic approach in any way, on the contrary, spaces have been recreated, itineraries and photographic formats/frames have been reinvented.
